Garbage en La Riviera
Estoy en una nube, un poco mareado, un poco sordo y muy contento. Acabo de volver del concierto que acaba de dar Garbage en La Riviera y sólo puedo decir que ha sido impresionante. Pocas veces he visto a la gente tan entregada en un concierto y pocas veces me lo he pasado tan bien. Aunque ahora esté destrozado, ha merecido la pena.
Todo ha comenzado muy bien cuando hemos llegado porque por diversas circunstancias hemos acabado Supervago y yo en los camerinos para conocer a los Garbage. Ha sido muy emocionante. Primero ha entrado Shirley, guapísima, con un vestido blanco, que ha ido extendiendo la mano a las ocho personas que estábamos ahí presentándose a cada uno de nosotros. Luego ha pasado el guitarrista, Duke Erikson, el bajo Steve Marker y Butch Vig. Ahí estaban todos, delante nuestra. Me encanta Shirley y, como suele ocurrir en estas ocasiones, me he puesto nervioso y no se me ha ocurrido nada que decir, aunque tampoco había mucho que decir porque han mantenido bastante las distancias.
El concierto ha comenzado con ‘Queer’ y ‘Bad Boyfriend’. Sonaban genial. Han repasado todos sus discos, hasta han tocado ‘Cherry lips’ y ‘Shout your mouth’ del ‘Beautiful’. Mis favorita ha sido ‘Only happy when it rains’, ‘Supervixen’ y hasta me ha encantado ‘Why do you love me’. En cuanto ha comenzado me he puesto a dar botes. Los alaridos que suelta al final del ‘Right between the eyes’ también los he soltado yo.
La gente ha estado totalmente exaltada hasta el punto de que han tenido que hacer un segundo bis que no tenían preparado. No se me va a olvidar que Shirley no dejaba de decir “you are insane” con sonrisa. Se ha despedido haciendo una reverencia. El último en salir del escenario ha sido Butch Vig, con los brazos extendidos, como si estuviese volando.
Quizás su último disco no sea muy bueno, pero espero que saquen muchos más si eso significa que van a seguir dando conciertos así. Estoy muy contento.

Bueno, ya me estoy recuperando un poco, aunque sigo bastante ido volando. Es que estuvo genial, genial, genial el concierto. Ayer por la noche, al llegar a casa, nos pusimos el Garbage y el Version 2.0 y esta mañana me he venido al trabajo con el Version 2.0.

Creo que yo era el único malagueño que iba desde Málaga a Madrid para ver el concierto de Garbage. En la tienda donde me compré la entrada me comentaron que sólo habían vendido las dos que yo compré.
Disfruté del concierto de Garbage un montón. Shirley estaba guapísima, simpática, sonriente, adorable… Me costó un poco meterme, quizás debido a que comenzó de día, y hubiera preferido que salieran con toda la sala oscura, y la iluminación que llevaban hubiera impactado mucho más.
Fui con una amiga que no es muy fan del grupo, pero flipó tanto que al día siguiente por la mañana se compró Beautifulgarbage. Me decía que le encantó una canción de estilo cabaretero. Yo supuse que sería Cherry Lips y acerté. Creo que es un grupo que sorprende en directo a la gente que no va muy convencida porque se dan cuenta de que conocen un montón de canciones, se lo pasan de puta madre y quedán embriagados con la belleza de Shirley Manson.
Las dos mejores momentos del concierto Granada 1999 fueron Push it y Only happy when it rains, con el público emocionado, cantando, bailando, saltando… Y me sorprendío y me encantó que esos momentos se volvieran a repetir en La Riviera pero no sólo con esas dos canciones. También pasó con Special, Right Between the eyes (se ha ganado convertirse en otro himno excelente del grupo), Shut your mouth y You look so fine, entre otras.
Flipé también Hammering in my head, una de mis canciones favoritas del grupo y me pareció uan sorpresa su inclusión en el concierto. Al igual que Not my idea, aunque por mí esta se la podían haber ahorrado y tocado en su lugar otra de mis favoritas: Silence is golden (que tiene un estilo parecido al Bleed like me), Milk (aunque reconozco que de todas las lentas de garbage la que tiene un mejor directo es you look so fine), Androginy (aunque tampoco pegaba mucho en el setlist) o The Boys wanna fight.
¿Estaban grabando el concierto? Escuché algunos comentarios al respecto. Y había micros apuntado al público.
Llevo dos días medio sordo, pero es que además en el camino de vuelta a Málaga en bus me escuché todos los discos de Garbage. Estoy de acuerdo contigo en que sigan sacando más discos para que sigan dando estos peazos conciertos, pero no en que Bleed Like me sea tan malo, y se demostró en directo. Es muy parecido a lo que han hecho siempre, queramos o no reconocerlo.
He sacado una cónclusión: La banda se separará el día que decidan sacar un disco de grandes éxitos, porque se tirarán los trastos a la cabeza para elegir la lista de canciones, porque tienen demasiado donde elegir.

Si te sirve de consuelo te puedo decir que tras 5 días sigo un poco sordo, sobre todo del oído derecho, pero lo sufro con gusto de lo bueno que fue el concierto.
Que hubiese tocado ‘Boys Wanna Fight’ hubiese sido genial, sobre todo porque ya se está convirtinedo en una de mis favoritas del ‘Bleed like me’.
Ojalá hayan grabado ese concierto… porque lo de sacar recopilatorio lo tienen un poco difícil. Más que pegarse entre ellos se tendrían que pegar con todas las discográficas por las que han pasado.
